What is the function of an insulation mattress?
An insulation mattress is used to limit heat transfer between an installation and its surroundings. This is called thermal insulation. Did you know that you can lose up to 85% less heat with an insulation mattress installed? Energy savings, protection of people or equipment from burns, and extreme cold are all reasons to use an insulation mattress.
An insulation mattress also helps reduce disturbing or hazardous noise levels from an installation. This is called acoustic insulation. The structure of a standard insulation mattress
An insulation mattress is a flexible technical cover made of technical fabric, filled with insulating material such as loose glass or stone wool. In a standard insulation mattress, staples are used to keep the filling in place and prevent it from shifting. Hooks are attached on both sides of the mattress, allowing it to be fastened in the correct position using iron wire. The staples (also called dimples) give the mattress its characteristic quilted look — which is where the name “insulation mattress” comes from.
Other names for insulation mattresses include flexible insulation, insulation covers, fabric mattresses, or fabric insulation.
