There is no fixed lead time for a custom insulation mattress, because every mattress is made for one specific component. The lead time after measuring mainly depends on the number of mattresses, the complexity of the component and your planning. With good preparation you can have delivery line up with your maintenance shutdown.
In this blog you will read which steps sit between measuring and delivery, what determines the lead time and how to plan around your shutdown.

A mattress from stock can be delivered within a few days. A custom mattress works differently: only after measuring is it clear which shape, dimensions and materials are needed. Each mattress is then made individually.
On the other hand, as the owner of the installation you largely control the pace. The earlier you know which components you want to insulate, the more room there is to align delivery with your planning.

The process consists of four steps. At Econtras we come to measure on site at your installation ourselves.
Measuring – exact dimensions, the shape of the component, available space and operating conditions are recorded.
Design – based on the measurements, a design is made for each component so the mattress fits exactly.
Production – each mattress is made separately from the chosen insulation layers and outer materials.
Delivery – the mattresses arrive at the agreed time, so you can fit them as soon as the installation is shut down.
Three factors have the most influence on the time between measuring and delivery:
Number of mattresses – a single fitting is ready faster than a complete installation with dozens of components.
Complexity of the component – bends, penetrations and irregular shapes require more design and production time.
Material choice and requirements – a mattress for high temperatures, acoustic damping or fire protection is built differently from a standard thermal mattress.
Larger projects therefore need more preparation than a single valve. After measuring we give you a concrete schedule with the exact lead time for your project.
How to plan delivery around your maintenance shutdown
Work backwards from the start date of the shutdown. If you know which components you want to insulate, have them measured as early as possible, even if the rest of the scope is not yet fixed. Design and production can then already run while you continue preparing the shutdown.
Make sure the installation is accessible during measuring and say which components must be removable again after the shutdown. That prevents changes later on. For the installation itself, our blog on installation mistakes shows where it often goes wrong.
We come to measure on site ourselves, design and produce the mattresses to size and deliver them. That goes for a single fitting and for a complete turbine. After measuring we align the schedule with you around your maintenance shutdown or project milestone.
You decide what gets insulated and when the installation is shut down, and we make sure the insulation mattresses are ready on time.
A custom insulation mattress has no fixed lead time, but that time is easy to plan. Have it measured early, tell us when your shutdown starts and take the number and complexity of the components into account.
